It's my last day in Vail. Couldn't find a green juice anywhere in the village, but there was lots of snow, sunhshine, and hot tea, so it's all good. Ready to get back to New York now! Have a great week everyone. xx

Although freshly made almond milk is obviously so much better for you, buying it ready to go is always easy, especially when you're traveling. Bought this vanilla flavored one in Vail yesterday...

What are the benefits of almond milk? It's rich in calcium, providing the same amount per cup as cow's milk or soy milk. Along with vitamin D, phosphorus and magnesium, calcium is needed to build and maintain strong bones and teeth. It also helps regulate blood pressure.

Stop the peer pressure :) Today everyone opted for pasta... hmmm number one my stomach has a hard time digesting this food (How do I know? Listen to my body...) and number two, that's not the best food to have at 9:30pm. So instead of complaining I made myself this simple little salad packed with tons of vitamins and minerals. It included a beautiful avocado, yellow tomatoes, walnuts, and dry red tomatoes. Done and done - going to bed feeling great.

In Denver, Colorado right now, on my way to.... Vail baby! We're a group of 8 college friends spending the weekend in the slopes. And I heard it just snowed and the sun is shining (thank you very much).

Anyways, packed these truffle almonds from SunBiotics as a snack and I have to say they are pretty tasty. Def recommend you try these fancy nuts... And their sprouted so easy to digest... And have probiotics.

Next week we fly out the LFB Media Group team to LA for Spirit Awards - we're doing press for the backstage lounge! I always try to check out Planet Raw when I head out and hopefully this time we'll have a lunch break so I can sneak off to this raw hot spot in Santa Monica.

What to get? Hmm not sure yet, but I do know they encourage you to have dessert first since fruit should not be eaten after a meal. I'm fine with that! All for helping my digestion...

Known as the "King of Fruit," this creamy almond tasting creation has plenty of phytonutrients, antioxidants, and protein, as well as high levels of Organosulfur Compounds. Tip: Add in dried cherry tomatoes in your salad - good for those looking for more filling and chewy food

THE YOGA OF AWARENESS

Practitioners call Kundalini yoga the yoga of awareness because it focuses primarily on practices that expand sensory awareness and intuition in order to raise individual consciousness.

Although the poses are not as physically challenging compared to other forms of yoga, Kundalini still increases endurance, strenght, flexibility and balance. It also stimulate certain glands, which leads to toning and cleansing of the body.

What are the 5 super-human foods? Tonight New York based Holistic Health Coach Robyn Youkilis took us through each one in detail at the Juice Generation bar in West Village. Here are a few notes I jotted down from the lecture. She is a promoter of feeding your body in a way that works for the individual! Like it...

  1. Kale: Loaded with chlorophyll, has cancer fighting properties, purifies your blood, clears lungs of mucus, contains a ton of vitamins (A,C, E, K, etc.). She has great recipes on her site if you want to try this green for dinner tonight. Click here!
  2. Spirulina: Helps put the breaks on cravings, it's a complete vegetarian protein (contains the 9 essential amino acids) - great after a workout.
  3. Cayenne Pepper: Raises heat temperature (which raises metabolism), great for immunity, and helps digestion. Add some to your hot lemon water in the morning.
  4. Celery: Lowers blood pressure (according to the wise man Hippocrates). If you think it's too strong, try celery root.
  5. Chia Seeds: Loaded with fiber! Contains protein and omega (total brain food).

Below is a list with all the products one may eat during the cleanse. As you can see, there are a great variety of products! It’s important to always get organic when possible. For me, the hardest part has been not to add any salt. In the beginning everything seams a bit tasteless, however after a while one gets used to it and the food itself becomes tastier. Also, I’ve started adding apple cider vinegar in addition to olive oil to my salads, tastes delicious!

What to eat during a cleanse?

All fresh fruits, including grapefruit and other citrus
All fresh salad greens
All sprouts
All vegetables (raw or cooked)
Almonds and sunflower seeds, soaked*
Apple cider vinegar (raw and organic)
Berries, fresh
Corn on the cob, fresh*
Dark leafy greens, lightly steamed
Dates and other dried fruits, organic and unsulphured* with no added sugar
Fresh or dried seasoning herbs and blends that contain no added salt
Fresh raw fruit juice
Fresh raw vegetable juice
Goat whey* (raw)
Green foods (grasses, spirulina, chlorella)
Herbal teas (caffeine free)
Honey (raw)
Lemons
Lima Beans*
Maple syrup, organic
Melons
